Today (14 Nov 2024), officials from Patong Municipality, Kathu District, Phuket Province, are rushing to build a temporary pond at Patong Beach so that tourists can float their krathongs tomorrow (15 Nov 2024) instead of floating them in the sea to reduce the problem of garbage from floating krathongs in the sea, which has an impact on the environment and aquatic animals.
